NEW DELHI: Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce, will go on official visit to New York and Washington DC, from January 9 to 11, an official statement said.
The minister will interactwith the CEOs of reputable global corporations during the first leg of the trip, take part in community activities, attend roundtable discussions with business executives and think tanks, and tour various industries in New York.
On January 11, 2023, he will be present at the 13th Trade Policy Forum (TPF) gathering in Washington, DC. He will also have a one-on-one meeting with USTR Ambassador Katherine Tai prior to delegation-level discussions.
After a four-year hiatus, the 12th TPF Ministerial meeting was convened on November 23, 2021, in New Delhi. Following the most recent ministerial, working groups were reactivated.
The Trade Partnership Forum (TPF) is a framework for ongoing dialogue between two nations to advance their trade and investment ties.
The Commerce and Industry Minister from India and USTR from the US both serve as the TPF's chairs.
Goyal and US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo will meet in person in Washington, DC. A few captains of industry will also be talked to.
"Both India and the USA are natural allies with complementary trade links, enduring strategic and economic ties, interpersonal interactions, and strong democracies. Additionally, the two nations are working together through QUAD, IPEF, and I2U2 (India-Israel/UAE/USA) (Indo-Pacific Economic Framework). Regular leadership exchanges have been a crucial component of the growing bilateral interaction "the statement read.
