Air France-KLM and IndiGo on Thursday,  announced a codeshare deal that will allow each airline to sell seats on the other's flights.

According to a joint statement, Air France and KLM will provide their passengers access to 25 new Indian destinations as a result of this new agreement. This means that, once the codeshare agreement is in place, the Air France-KLM company will be able to sell IndiGo airline seats on 25 domestic routes through its distribution system.

IndiGo will be able to sell seats on the European airline group's flights on more than 250 itineraries as well, according to the joint announcement. A codeshare agreement allows one airline's distribution system to sell seats on the flights of other airlines. Air France and KLM fly to four Indian cities from their hubs in Paris and Amsterdam: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru. "This cooperation (codeshare) will begin in February 2022, subject to government clearance," according to the announcement.

Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, and American Airlines all have codeshare arrangements with IndiGo. India has been without scheduled international passenger flights since March 23 of last year. Under 'air bubble' arrangements, however, restricted passenger flights have been running between India and around 32 nations, including France and the Netherlands.
