MANIPUR: Budget carrier IndiGo on Saturday made the announcement that it would add more flights between Kolkata and Imphal, the capital of Manipur.

The airline has also reportedly resolved to absolve passengers of all fees associated with the rescheduling or cancellation of flights between May 4 and May 7.

IndiGo announced two special additional flights from Imphal to Kolkata on May 6, 2023, increasing capacity for passengers leaving the state in light of the current circumstances.

Internet access is still disabled, and there is now a curfew in effect. To stop similar catastrophes, security troops have been placed in certain areas.

The civil administration and the Indian Army, Air Force, and Assam Rifles have been working nonstop for the past 48 hours or so to bring peace to the violent Manipur.

The fighting started when the plains districts' predominately Meitei population wanted a Scheduled Tribes reservation.

Assam Rifles and the Army were requisitioned by the Manipur government this week after intercommunity fighting broke out in a few districts of the northeastern state.

Following directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) sent a total of 10 more companies (almost 1,000 men) to Manipur yesterday.

A gathering against these demands was held earlier on Wednesday by the All Tribals Students Union (ATSU) Manipur, which ultimately turned violent.
