Indian airlines Air India, Vistara, and IndiGo are resuming their flights to Dhaka starting Wednesday, following a period of instability in Bangladesh due to recent political unrest. This decision comes as the situation in the country begins to stabilize after the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who stepped down amid widespread protests.

In light of the recent political upheaval, including mass demonstrations that escalated from initial grievances over a job quota system to broader calls for Hasina’s removal, Indian carriers are reintroducing their scheduled services to Dhaka. These airlines are also offering flexibility to passengers affected by the turmoil.

On Tuesday, Air India operated an evening flight to Dhaka, canceling its morning service due to the ongoing unrest. Today, the airline is expected to resume its regular two daily flights from Delhi to Dhaka and may even add a special flight to assist passengers in returning from Dhaka.

Vistara and IndiGo are also reinstating their flights to Dhaka. Vistara will operate its daily flights from Mumbai and three weekly flights from Delhi. IndiGo, which typically runs one daily flight from Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai to Dhaka, and two daily flights from Kolkata, had previously canceled its flights to Dhaka on Tuesday.

Air India runs two daily flights from Delhi to Dhaka. IndiGo offers daily services from Dhaka to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata. Vistara operates one daily flight from Dhaka to Mumbai and three weekly flights to Delhi.

Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport was closed until 11:30 PM on Monday. However, the airport's security clearance was completed by Tuesday morning, allowing flight operations to resume on Wednesday.

In response to the evolving situation, Air India is offering a one-time rescheduling waiver for passengers with confirmed bookings on flights to and from Dhaka between August 4 and 7. This waiver applies to tickets booked by August 5.
