New Delhi: Today is the death anniversary of the first woman Prime Minister of the country, Indira Gandhi.  Along with this, interim president of Congress Sonia Gandhi, former President Pranab Mukherjee, former Vice President Hamid Ansari, as well as former PM and veteran Congress leader Manmohan Singh have also paid tribute to Indira Gandhi. Many senior leaders of the Congress party were present in the tribute meeting organized at Shakti Sthal in Delhi. Along with Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, many Congress Party MPs and top leaders have paid tribute to Indira Gandhi.

Let us tell you that on this day in the year 1984, the first woman PM of the country, Indira Gandhi was murdered. Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the first and only woman in the country with stubborn intentions and fearless decisions, was killed by her Sikh bodyguards this morning with bullets. Indira Gandhi took over the reins of the country for three consecutive times between 1966 and 1977, and then reached the post again in 1980 and was executed on 31 October 1984 while still in office.
