Siddharthanagar: The India-Nepal border is an open border. Therefore, criminals of both countries easily enter from one country to another. Security agencies have nabbed several notorious terrorists from the border. The Government is going to make this border more chalky. For this, 20 CCTV cameras will be installed at four check posts along the border. On the other hand, the cameras which have already been installed and closed or damaged will be rectified. The 68-km Indo-Nepal border in Gorakhpur district of UP is completely open.
Anybody can come from here without any hindrance. Due to this, smugglers and terrorists are also using this route. In the past, terrorists belonging to the Babbar Khalsa group have been apprehended along the border. Since then, the sensitivity of the Indo-Nepal border has increased. Special surveillance has been issued at the border following the terror attack in any part of the country.
Dr. S.P. Dharambir Singh said that in view of the sensitivity of the border, the government has directed to install CCTV cameras on the traffic routes where suspects have been apprehended in the past. Or, there is a possibility of smuggling or going through those routes. The government believes that if CCTV cameras are installed, such activities will be captured on camera and identified through it and action will be taken on the person concerned. At times, it has been found that the criminals of the state leave Nepal after committing the crime.
