Indonesia praises Saudi Arabia's concern for Hajj pilgrims

Jakarta: As the Southeast Asian nation sent the largest delegation in the world for the Hajj this year, Indonesian authorities acknowledged and appreciated Saudi Arabia's care and attention in handling pilgrims from the country, according to officials.

The largest Muslim-majority country in the world will send nearly 230,000 pilgrims, with about one-third of them being seniors or older.

According to Eko Hartono, Indonesia's general consul in Jeddah, "so far and generally speaking, the Hajj departures from Indonesia have been going well and the majority is going according to plan," Arab News reported on Tuesday.

According to Hartono, there were initially logistical issues as a result of the numerous flights, but they have since been resolved. Up until June 22, Indonesian airlines are expected to operate hajj flights.

Because there is always room for improvement, Qoumas continued, "Our communication with the Saudi government, including with the Saudi ambassador and all parties, is so effective.

"These enhanced flight services demonstrate the Saudi government's concern for the convenience of Indonesian pilgrims. I'm grateful for it.
