JAKARTA: Indonesian President Joko Widodo is set to visit Japan, China and South Korea on July 25-28 to discuss economic cooperation, including trade and investment, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said on Thursday, July 21.
At a news conference, Marsudi stated that "the three countries are Indonesia's vital allies in the economic area, as well as for ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations).
According to the Indonesian foreign minister, Widodo's planned trip will begin in China, which is the country's biggest economic partner and second-largest investor after Singapore.
After meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Japanese businessmen in Beijing, Widodo will continue his international tour to Seoul the next day to meet with South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol.
Indonesia's bilateral trade with Japan in year totaled 32 billion US dollars, and it totaled 18.41 billion U.S dollars with South Korea. During the bilateral discussions, Widodo will also go through the most recent developments on regional and global issues with the leaders, said Marsudi.
