Indore: An ex-Army man and his family members who are busy preparing for the wedding of a family member were in for a rude shock on Tuesday as miscreants made away with Rs 2.5 lakh and ornaments made up of gold and silver on Tuesday afternoon in broad daylight from their residence at Abhilasha Colony located on Dewas Road. According to the police the incident took place at the residence of an army officer when the whole family was away for shopping. Nagziri police told that retired army officer Manohar Patoliya lodged a complaint that miscreants made away with Rs 2.5lakh cash and gold ornaments having gross weight 100 grams and silver ornaments of the gross weight of 2.5 kilograms.
As per the police, the miscreants entered the house from the rooftop, so it is likely that the miscreants were aware of the movement of the family members as well as about the plan of the house. Police said that after retiring from Army Manohar started working with GAIL India Limited. Manohar told police that the wedding of the son of an Army officer is due to be held shortly and the whole family is preoccupied in making arrangements for the same.
Manohar alleged that the miscreants took advantage and committed the crime on finding that the house is vacant as he and his other family members had gone out of the house for buying some essential items for his son’s marriage at the time of the incident. He said that when we returned from shopping we were in for a shock as we found that the doors of the house is ajar.
