Indore: Vikram University to launch B Tech-LLB, B Ed & M Ed courses soon

Top officials and senior professors of Vikram University, Ujjain (VU) and Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore (DAVV) held a wide range of discussions during a day-long symposium on “Self-reliant Vikram University: challenges and opportunities.” This unique event was organised at the behest and presence of higher education minister at the Shalaka Dirgha of VU here on Friday.

Expressing his views Dr. Yadav said we all are one umbrella university, we are family. There are three types of universities one run by the government, second run by different non-higher education departments and the third private university.

Competition is bound to expand and we have to be competent enough, he added. He said that agriculture and veterinary colleges will be opened and all complicated procedures will be sorted out. He said, Madhya Pradesh is lagging far behind in higher education. We would form examination reform committee and will take on record suggestions about reducing subjects in wake of Corona pandemic, he declared. Universities should open research centre as per their background. Current subjects should be promoted. We know the inconvenience of university and its employee and working on positive direction to address their issues, the minister added.

DAVV vice-chancellor Prof Renu Jain said it’s a new initiative to combine both universities. Jiwaji University, Gwalior, Barkatullah University, Bhopal and DAVV were derived from VU so it is our obligation to ensure its progress. In 1990 DAVV was over-drafted, so self-finance courses were launched. Courses related to computer science and management were launched. In turn, it attracted students
