The Central government’s commitment to developing dedicated east coast and north-south railway freight corridors from Kharagpur in West Bengal to Vijayawada and Itarsi (Madhya Pradesh) to Vijayawada respectively is poised to give a fillip to goods transportation in Andhra Pradesh. After the construction of this corridor, farmers, traders, industrialists and other businessmen of the surrounding states including Madhya Pradesh will benefit.
Railways have announced other freight corridors besides this corridor in which a freight corridor is also to be built from Bhusaval which will in a way be very close to the Bhopal Railway Division. In this way trader, industrialists and farmers of Madhya Pradesh will get two freight corridors.
According to railway officials, independent rail lines are called freight corridors for the operation of goods trains. In this way, there is a time table for the running of goods trains in the railway lines. Freight booked from one city arrives in another city on time. Right now there is no such system in West Central Railway including Bhopal, here only freight trains are run on those railway lines where the passenger train is running. Due to this, the freight trains are late and the freight does not reach the respective cities on time. A record outlay of Rs 1,10,055 crore is planned for the Railways in the budget.
Out of this, Rs 1,07,100 crore has been allocated for capital investment. Indian Railways has prepared the National Rail Scheme for India -2030. Through this, the Indian railway system will be prepared to meet future needs by 2030. The Finance Minister has promoted the 'Make in India' initiative.
