Infinix unveiled its 180W Thunder Charge Technology, on Thursday. The technology will be released only on certain flagship phones that will be announced in a few months.

With its technology, Infinix is challenging the 150W fast charging capacity of Realme GT Neo 3.

The new technology will help users achieve a 50% charge of the 4500mAh battery in just four minutes, providing users with a faster and more advanced smart device charging experience, according to the information released by the company.

The thunder charge has two separate charging modes, Furious and Standard mode. The prior can be activated at the click of a button giving users 180W super-fast charging.

The 180W Thunder Charger reduces the chances of the battery overheating due to its fast charging technology.  Infinix in its statement said that compared to regular smartphones with fast charging features they generally use batteries with a charging rate of 1 to 3C, while the thunder charger uses batteries with a rate of 8C preventing overheating.

Infinix collaborated with the leading battery manufacturers in the world in order to develop a new 8C battery cell, making it the maximum charging rate rechargeable lithium battery in the industry according to the company.

It is to be noted that the 8C cell has lower internal resistance when compared with the conventional single electrode lug structure, the 8C cell has a multi-electrode lug, which helps in reducing more than 50 percent of the internal resistance and produces less heat.

180W Thunder Charger also has an automatic bidirectional-power supply technology to increase the phone’s battery life by 2 percent compared to phones designed with double cell batteries.

The said technology also reduces the area of the power supply circuit by 60 percent and also saves space. Additionally, the charging technology works using dynamic distribution. Users can also use cables from other manufacturers to charge the devices up to 100W.
