The Member of Indian national Congress & former national coordinator, Rahul Jogi, recollects fond memories of his late mentor, Mr. Oscar Fernandes.
A few individuals impact us greatly, helping us become our best versions in all we ever choose to lay our hands on. This precisely is the life story of a highly driven and determined Indian politician and social activist, and the former National Coordinator of the Indian National Congress, Mr. Rahul Jogi, who attributes a major part of his growth and success in the Indian political arena to his mentor, late Mr. Oscar Fernandes, who remained a dominant leader of the party for years.
Throughout his career in the political world, the Haryana talent, born in 1990, has had excellent encounters with some of the most eminent leaders of varied statures in the system. Over the years, he acknowledges that this helped him gain significant insights and knowledge from each of them, greatly enhancing his performance and work as the former National Coordinator of the Indian National Congress and Deputy Incharge of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee.
When other teenagers were still figuring out things, Rahul Jogi, as a 14-year-old, had begun with social service. When he turned 18, he joined the Indian National Congress and worked relentlessly towards advancing the marginalized groups, the Dalits, laborers, and more. To take a step further, he also went beyond India and fought for the rights of people in Nepal and Bhutan, among other countries.
Late Mr. Oscar Fernandes, the former Union Cabinet Minister for Transport, Road and Highways and Labour and Employment, Government of India in UPA government, was his mentor, who helped shape his political career. Around 2007, when the party was in power at the center, and Rahul was still exploring his political future from Haryana, Oscar Ji, the senior INC leader, extended his hand and helped Rahul learn the “its and bits” of the Indian political arena, especially of Congress, as a party.
This was exactly when Mr. Rahul Gandhi was also actively involved in politics as the General Secretary of the Indian National Congress (INC). At that time, Oscar Ji facilitated a meeting between Rahul Gandhi and Rahul Jogi, which had a tremendous positive impact on the latter.
Rahul Jogi then started shouldering varied party responsibilities, working with passion, commitment, and dedication, which helped him emerge as a promising new face in the field. Today, this youngster has become a prominent leader in the party and credits a major part of his success to his mentor, Oscar Ji, whose guidance, coupled with the Gandhi Family’s trust, played a vital role in making his political journey successful.
As a dominant political leader in Congress, Rahul Jogi is connected with top politicians of the country and has become an inspiration for several other budding politicians as well.
