Mumbai: The indigenous aircraft carrier (IAC) INS Vikrant would be commissioned by August 2022, according to Indian Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh. The Chief of Naval Staff was speaking at a ceremony in Mumbai when the fourth Scorpene-class submarine, INS Vela, was commissioned into the Indian Navy today.

"The INS Vikrant has completed a successful sea trial. The P-75 project, according to the Navy chief, demonstrates India and France's developing strategic alignment. "The commissioning ceremony today is another high point in our long-running cooperation. We've reached the halfway point of Project 75 "he said. The Indian Navy is keeping a careful eye on China-Pakistan defence collaboration, he added.
