New Delhi: While India is continuously increasing its military capability with modern equipment, on the other hand its most experienced warship INS Viraat (INS Viraat) has retired. Preparations have been made to destroy this warship, which has served the longest in the Indian military.

Only last week INS Viraat reached Alang Coast, Gujarat from the dockyard in Mumbai. An event with the title 'Thank you Virat' was organized on 28 September. All officers of the Indian Navy were also present at the event, including Union Shipping Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. According to media reports, during this period, the officials of Shri Ram Group have given information that the ship will be checked once more by the Gujarat Maritime Board and GPCB and after that the process of destroying INS Viraat will be started.

By next month, the ship will be brought to shore and then the work of opening its parts will start. This means that this magnificent ship of the Indian Navy will now turn into junk. This ship was retired from the Indian Navy in 2017 after which it was sold. During the bid in July this year, Shri Ram Group bought the ownership of the ship for Rs 38.54 crore. INS Virat was inducted in the Indian Navy in 1987.
