In a remarkable story of determination and resilience, S Inba, the daughter of a single mother who works as a beedi roller, has cleared the prestigious Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Inba secured the 851st rank in the all-India exam, showcasing how government initiatives at the grassroots level can lead to outstanding achievements. She spent two years at the public library in Shengottai, which became her second home, utilizing free books and internet access to excel in her studies.
Inba's mother, S Stella, also strings flowers at a nearby shop to support the family. Despite facing challenges, Inba's mother's encouragement and confidence in her daughter's abilities pushed her to succeed, even after failing the preliminary examination twice. Inba attended online coaching classes at the government library from 8 am to 8 pm using free Wi-Fi and other resources arranged by the librarian and staff. She later joined the All India Civil Service Institute in Chennai, benefiting from free food, accommodation, and financial assistance.
Inba's journey continued with her passing the Staff Selection Commission exam and joining the Employee Provident Fund Organisation in March. She is now preparing to join a central service post through UPSC's service allocation. District Collector A K Kamal Kishore and Kadayanallur MLA C Krishnamurali congratulated Inba on her achievements, highlighting her success as a testament to her perseverance and the impact of government support on aspiring candidates.
