There are a total of 16 official languages, ranging from English to Nambia, Kalanga, Shangani, Shona, Cheva, Sotho, Tonga, Josa and Sine. However, the most spoken language here is Shona, which speaks about 70 percent of its population here. Former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe was one of the oldest and longest-serving leaders of the world's non-imperial countries. He became the first Prime Minister of Zimbabwe in 1980 and held his post until 1987.
