Every year 15 August is celebrated as India's Independence Day. India was liberated from British slavery on 15 August 1947. On August 15, every year various programs are organized across the country and on this day the PM of the country hoists the tricolor from the Red Fort. The tricolor was hoisted on the Red Fort after the independence of India. The Red Fort also has an important place in Indian history, so let's know about some special things related to the Red Fort today.

Some special things related to Red Fort

The first tricolor from the Red Fort was hoisted on the next day of independence i.e. on 16 August 1947.

The tradition of saluting the tricolor started from the day of August 15.

- The name of the Red Fort is Qila-e-Mubarak.

- Former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi has flown the tricolor a total of 16 times from the Red Fort.

- Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee hoisted the tricolor from Red Fort 6 times and he was the first non-Congress PM to do so many times.

- The tricolor was not hoisted from the Red Fort for the first time after independence. Rather, for the first time after independence, the tricolor was hoisted over the Council House, which is now called Parliament House.

-Former PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru has done the most frequent tricolor hoisting on Independence Day. On August 15, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru hoisted the tricolor the most 17 times.

-Union jack was unloaded from the Viceroy's House on 14 August 1947, just a day before India's independence. The Viceroy's House is today known as Rashtrapati Bhavan.
