Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel's Statue ‘Statue of Unity’ is to be unveiled on October 31 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The special thing about this 182 metre high statue is that it is tallest statue in the world and double the height of Statue of Liberty of USA.

This great statue is built of 5,700 metric tons i.e. about 57 lakh kilograms of structural steel. Also 18,500 metric ton rods have been used. 18 thousand 500 tonnes of steel foundation and 6,500 tonnes of steel sculpture also used in construction of this statue. Apart from these material, cement and bronze also used in this statue. The total construction cost of this Gujrat Government made statue is 2300 crore which can reach up to 3000 crore.

The 'Statue of Unity' is designed such a way that it can handle the 6.5- Richter scale of earthquake.Even there will be no effect of dust, sunlight, rain and war on this statue.

This statue is designed by 92 year old architect, Ram V. Sutar who has also designed the 17 feet high statue of Mahatma Gandhi which is located at Parliament house.

Although it is the Statue of Unity, there is another statue which is under construction which can break the record of this statue. Shiva memorial being made in the Arabian Sea in Mumbai is 190 meters in height and is likely to be ready in three years.
