 International Civil Aviation Day is celebrated every year on 7 December 2013 with the aim of highlighting the importance of civil aviation for social, economic development worldwide.

International Civil Aviation Day is observed to promote the safety and efficiency of air transport and create awareness about the role of the International Civil Aviation Organization in air transport. International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) International for Aviation Safety The United Nations is responsible for developing standards. International Civil Aviation Day is observed every year on 7 December. The International Civil Aviation Treaty was signed on this day in Chicago in 1944.

1. The International Civil Aviation Organization was established on 7 December 1944 to secure international cooperation and uniformity in civil aviation matters.

2. The reason behind celebrating this day is to generate and strengthen global awareness of the importance of international civil aviation in social and economic development, as well as to promote the safety, efficiency and regularity of international air transport.

3.According to an ICAO initiative of the United Nations General Assembly in 1996 and with the assistance of the Government of Canada, December 7 was declared as International Civil Aviation Day.

4. The International Civil Aviation Organization works closely with other UN members including the World Meteorological Organization, International Telecommunications Union, Universal Postal Union, World Health Organization and International Maritime Organization.
