International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking or World Drug Day is annually celebrated all over the world on June 26 in light of the drug use which continues to be a major problem all over the world. 

The day is celebrated to spread awareness about the impact of drug abuse, and many celebrities, and influencers share educational posts on social media.

The theme for this year is “Addressing drug challenges in health and humanitarian crisis”.The event is celebrated annually by United Nations aiming to spread awareness about the dangers associated with drug consumption and its impact on society.

The focus of the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC) is to create a world free of drug abuse and encourage the victims to get treatment. 

UNODC aims to educate and protect the right to health for people who are vulnerable, including teens, people using drugs, and many others. 

Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Ashtana and AIIMS-Delhi director Dr. Randeep Guleria flagged off a Cyclothon organized to create awareness and achieve the goal of a world free of drug use. Many people participated in the campaign including resident doctors against drug abuse.

Mumbai Police too celebrated the event by tweeting, “Always say no to drug abuse, Stay away from drugs, and live safe health." 

Meghalaya Police too stood for the same cause through social media on Sunday by tweeting, “Know where to draw the line, know where to erase one. Set your boundaries and say No to life-threatening 'temporary fun'. #SayNoToDrugs."
