International Men's Day is celebrated on 19 November every year. It is an annual international event. The day was established in Trinidad and Tobago in the year 1999. Today, this day is celebrated in more than 60 countries in the world. In India, this day was first celebrated on 19 November 2007. Men make sacrifices every day in their many roles as husband, son and father, for their community and for their country, for their friends and for their families. International Men's Day is a day of appreciation of sacrifices made by men in society.
The purpose of International Men's Day is to improve gender relations, promote gender equality, and highlight the role of positive male models. This includes paying attention to the health of men and boys. The purpose of this day is to highlight the discrimination against men. Public seminars and conferences are held at many places on International Men's Day.
Men's day is celebrated with great pomp in the country as well as abroad. Peaceful demonstrations and processions are also organized under the leadership of some men's organizations. This is optional in an annual day to day manner, any organization is welcome to host their own events and any appropriate platform can be used.
