New Delhi: Now you will not be able to buy two bottles of liquor from duty-free shops of international airports of the country. The central government is considering reducing the number of alcohol purchases from all international airports. The new recommendations clearly state that there should be a limit to buy only one bottle of wine per passenger coming to India. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman can announce this new step in the upcoming budget.

Sources say that this recommendation has been sent by the Commerce Ministry to the Finance Ministry. In this, the Ministry of Commerce has said that many nations still allow international travelers to buy a maximum of one liter of liquor. A foreign traveler coming to the country from a duty-free shop can usually buy goods worth about 50,000 rupees and on this, he does not have to pay import duty. This results in loss of income to the government. This is the reason that the idea of implementing only one liter of liquor purchase per passenger is being considered. Along with this, the facility to buy a carton cigarette from a duty-free store is also recommended to be discontinued.

Another official says that the government is considering various measures to reduce the import of unnecessary items in the country. The government believes that the import of these unnecessary items increases the country's trade deficit. The recommendation has been sent to the Finance Ministry that this rule should be applied to all international travelers. This will cause us less loss. If alcohol and cigarettes are purchased from the local markets, the income of the government will increase.
