September 30, 2022, is designated as International Translation Day. Every year on the feast of St. Jerome, a Bible translator who is revered as the patron saint of translators, International Translation Day is observed. Since its founding in 1953, the International Federation of Translators, or FIT, has sponsored the festivities.

In an effort to unite the global translation community and advance the translation profession in many nations, FIT introduced the concept of an officially recognised International Translation Day in 1991. This is a chance to show pride in a profession that is growing more and more important in the age of advancing globalisation.
