In the year term of 2015-2016 India’s internet shutdown has cost the nation a sum of $968 million (6485 crore Rs.). This loss is the largest among the 19 countries that were surveyed.
The internet services in India are shut down at time to prevent unrest like that in the state of Kashmir; the government has stopped the internet services to stop the unrest that the people have witnessed in the last three months.
Also, this internet shutdown has resulted in “dysfunctional” that has cut the job and shifting of operations several times. Also, some operators even shifted themselves from the state to compensate the loss.
This shutdown globally lasted for 753 days, maximum in Syria, controlled by the Islamic states.
