The ace actress of Indian cinema Jaya Bachchan who turns 69 today. Jaya Bhaduri who is the better half of Bollywood's megastar Amitabh Bachchan, mother of Swetha Nanda and actor Abhishek Bachchan has acted in many films since 1963.  She has also acted with her spouse  in many hit films, including "Zanjeer" (1973), "Abhimaan" (1973), "Chupke Chupke" (1975), "Mili" (1975) and "Sholay" (1975), "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" (2001), among others.

Her other hit films include "Silsila" (1981), "Kal Ho Na Ho" (2003), "Drona" (2008) and others. After taking a break of about 14 years, Jaya made a come back with Amitabh in the Marathi film "Akka" in 1995. She was last seen in Bengali film "Sunglass" in 2013. Jaya was awarded Padma Shri in 1992 and is a Rajya Sabha MP representing Samajwadi Party since 2004.

-Jaya began her acting career at the age of 15 as a supporting actress in Satyajit Ray's Bengali film "Mahanagar" in 1963.

-She is a gold medalist from Pune Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).

-It was Jaya who wrote the story of the Bollywood classic film "Shahenshah" (1988).

-Jaya and Amitabh acted together for the first time in the 1972 film "Bansi Birju".

-Jaya was pregnant with her elder daughter Shweta Nanda during the shooting of the film "Sholay", in which she played Amitabh's love interest Radha.
