Guwahati: The Assam government has taken a major decision amid the corona crisis, according to which individuals who have taken both doses of corona vaccine need not undergo mandatory tests at airports and railway stations. The Assam government on Saturday said that all passengers coming to airports and railway stations in the state who have been vaccinated against corona will be relaxed with mandatory rapid antigen tests.
In fact, earlier, the administration had issued an order in April making corona tests necessary for all those coming to the state. The state government order states that "Assam Pradesh has been recording a decline in infection cases for the past several days, as well as a sharp decline in the positivity rate, at the same time as in other states, the vaccination drive is in full swing in Assam, with a target of vaccinating three lakh persons per day from June 21 to June 30 in the state.''
The same State Government further said, "In view of the reduction in infection cases and the ongoing vaccination drive, an order has been issued that persons from outside the state who have been given both doses of corona vaccine will be exempted from mandatory corona testing at airports or railway stations on entry into Assam. But all such passengers will have to show a valid certificate of their vaccination.'' Earlier, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that government and private offices in the state can function as per normal time from July 1, all the employees of whom have been completely vaccinated.
