New Delhi: The United Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Friday said the investigation into the Lakhimpur Kheri incident should be monitored directly by the apex court to ensure justice. SKM in its statement alleged that the Uttar Pradesh government is trying to influence the investigation by transferring key officials of the investigation, making the investigation slow and lengthy.

"We reiterate our demand that the apex court should monitor the investigation into the farmer massacre in Lakhimpur Kheri so that justice can be ensured," SKM said in an official statement. SKM further said in the statement that reports are continuing on the 'VIP treatment of the accused Ashish Mishra. SKM once again demands the Supreme Court to monitor the entire investigation directly to ensure justice in the case.'

Union Minister of State Ajay Mishra's son Ashish Mishra has been charged with the murder of a farmer in Lakhimpur Kheri. Delhi Police has been trying to remove barricades along the Delhi border since Wednesday. SKM said, "It is well known that the police showed an attitude during the demonstration as if the protesters were enemies of India and were the biggest threat to the country's security. Police had fortified the movement sites by erecting several layers of cement boulders, metal barricades. Trucks were installed on the roads. Many layers of nails were set.''
