But this year, he will have to celebrate his birthday not with family but alone in Tihar Jail. P Chidambaram is imprisoned in Tihar in INX Media money laundering case. P Chidambaram will remain in Tihar Jail till 19 September. The Delhi Rouse Avenue court sent him to Tihar Jail for 14 days judicial custody in the INX Media money laundering case. The CBI had requested to send P. Chidambaram to judicial custody.

Recently, Chidambaram had filed a surrender petition in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court, which was rejected by the court. P. Chidambaram petitioned the court for surrender before the Directorate of Emigration (ED). court rejected P. Chidambaram's demand and said that no ED complaint or charge sheet is pending in INX Media case. With this, the ED does not want to take P. Chidambaram into custody as of now. The ED will later take P. Chidambaram in custody.

The court said that in such a situation, we cannot order Chidambaram to be sent to ED's custody right now. The next hearing, in this case, will be held on September 19 in Rouse Avenue and on September 23 in Delhi High Court. P. Chidambaram's lawyers hope that he will get bail in this case from the High Court.
