New Delhi: 71 retired bureaucrats of the country have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and requested for the INX case. Retired officials have expressed concern over the prosecution of four former finance ministry officials in the INX Media case. Retired officials, writing a letter to PM Modi, said that this would discourage honest and hardworking officials from taking important decisions. With this, the letter has demanded that there should be a reasonable time limit, after which these files are not reopened.

The letter to Prime Minister Modi has been signed by retired civil servants like former Cabinet Secretary KM Chandrasekhar, former Foreign Secretary and National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon, former Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh and former Punjab DGP Julio Ribeiro. Former bureaucrats told PM Modi in the letter that retired and serving officers are being targeted to take political advantage.

Officials said that last month, the government had issued a sanction to the CBI to prosecute former NITI Aayog CEO Sindhushree Khullar and others in relation to the FIPB clearance granted to INX Media Case. His additional INX case allowed the prosecution of former MSME secretary Anoop K Pujari, Prabodh Saxena, the then director of the finance ministry and Rabindra Prasad, a former under secretary of the economic department. Let us tell you that in this case former finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram is lodged in Tihar Jail.
