IPL 2019: RCB levels Delhi Daredevils' 2013 record for maximum consecutive losses

Delhi Capitals defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 4 wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday and with this loss RCB slumped to their sixth straight loss in IPL 2019. With the defeat, RCB emulated Delhi Daredevils' 2013 record for maximum consecutive losses at the beginning of an IPL season.

Virat Kohli led RCB struggled to get 149 on the two-paced pitch despite Kohli's 41-run knock before they saw Shreyas Iyer carve out a captain's knock to guide Delhi to a four-wicket win. Contrary to RCB's condition, Delhi have bagged three wins in five matches.

Talking about the most concecutive losses at the start of an IPL season, RCB is at the top with  6* losses in 2019. It is follwed by 6 loss Delhi Daredevils in 2013, 5 lossDeccan Chargers in 2012 and 5 Mumbai Indians in 2014

Skipper Virat Kohli got off to a nervy start after the length ball from Chris Morris rose up to take the inside edge before flying a little wide of Shikhar Dhawan at slip. He failed to find the composure since then while he watched his partners at the other end of the crease fall dead to the Delhi bowling attack. Kohli scored 41 runs off 33 deliveries, but his lengthy stay at the crease failed to affect RCB's score as they recorded only 149 runs.

Defending the score,, RCB dismissed Shikhar Dhawan for a duck and then dropped Iyer twice in the match before the DC skipper made the most of the situation to score his 11th IPL fifty en route to his score of 67 runs off 49 deliveries. The skipper was assisted by cameos from Prithvi Shaw, Colin Ingram and Rishabh Pant.
