In the IPL-13 auction held on Thursday, December 21, 2019, in Kolkata, franchisees spent 41% of the total amount on Australian players. Franchisees spent Rs 140.3 crore in the auction. Australia sold the maximum 13 foreign cricketers in it. Teams looted 58.25 crore rupees on them. Pat Cummins was the most expensive foreigner of this season while the most expensive foreigner in IPL history.

According to Cricinfo, the players spent Rs 17.75 crore on 7 players from England, 17.25 crore on 4 West Indies cricketers and Rs 10.75 crore on 3 players from South Africa. Teams bet on 1 player each from New Zealand and Sri Lanka. 33 players from India were sold, on which 33.30 crores (player 1.01 crores on average) was spent.

In the IPL 2020 auction, Glenn Maxwell was bought by Kings XI Punjab for a hefty amount of 10.75 crores. His base price was 2 crore rupees, but his price rose in the auction and in a big price Punjab added him to his team. KR bought Pat Cummins with a big bid of 15 crores 50 lakhs. Cummins is returning to the IPL after 3 years. He has taken 17 wickets in 16 matches played so far. Cummins has become the second most expensive player in IPL history. RCB bought Australian opener, Aaron Finch, for 4 crores 40 lakh rupees and Australian fast bowler Ken Richardson also got a big bid of four crore rupees.
