New Delhi: Delhi Capitals senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has recently believed that winning the 'Purple' or 'Orange Cap' is meaningless unless the player performs his role properly for the team. The players who scored the most runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) are given the 'Orange Cap'. The one who takes the most wickets are given the 'Purple Cap'. Ashwin believes that if the team does not win the match, then such a reward is useless. Recently Ashwin on his YouTube channel in response to a fan's strike rate question said, "Such numbers do not matter. Purple and orange cap are like dust in the eyes. It is associated with contributing to the team's win, playing its role in victory".

This show of Ashwin is in Tamil with all the titles in English. You can see that Ashwin gave an example of how it is necessary to play defensive shots under certain circumstances. Talking with South Africa national team performance analyst Prasanna Agoram he said, "If your nine wickets have fallen and you have to score 10 runs, then you can play defensive shot on the fifth ball of the 19th over. It's according to the need of the team."

He said that he believes that 'Analysis, criticism and appreciation' go along and there is no point in mixing them. He further said, "Enjoy your game and watch the game." Delhi Capitals are at number two. Delhi too have won 5 out of seven matches so far. Delhi also has 10 points, but His net run rate is +1.038".  He also said, "Go with analysis, criticism and appreciation' and there is no point in mixing them. Enjoy your game and watch the game."
