New Delhi: The 15th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has reached its final stage. Two new teams Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have made it to the playoffs, while five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI), four-time title-winning Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and two-time winners Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have crashed out of the tournament. After Wednesday night's defeat against Lucknow, Kolkata became the third team to be knocked out of the playoff race. This will be the first time in the history of IPL that none of the teams of Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata will be in the playoffs. Let's take a look at the performance of all three teams-

Mumbai Indians: This season has been extremely disappointing for Mumbai Indians, captained by Ro Hita Sharma. In the first 8 matches of IPL 2022, the team had to face defeat. Out of the 13 matches played so far, Mumbai has won only 3 matches and is at the bottom of the points table at the 10th position. Mumbai became the first team to be knocked out of the playoffs.

Chennai Super Kings: Chennai's regular captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni had announced to step down as captaincy before the start of the season. After which the franchise made Ravindra Jadeja the new captain. The team's performance under Jadeja's captaincy was disappointing and he handed over the command of the team back to Dhoni in the middle of the season. Jadeja was then ruled out of the tournament due to injury. Defending champions CSK are in the 9th position after winning 4 out of 13 matches.

Kolkata Knight Riders: - KKR under the leadership of new captain Shreyas Iyer appeared to be making changes in the playing XI the most number of times during IPL 2022. In the last match against Lucknow also, the team made three changes. The team neither managed to find the perfect opening combination nor did their bowling unit look strong. By the end of the season, Kolkata could not find the perfect playing XI. As a result, the team was knocked out of the tournament by losing 8 matches in 14 matches.
