Excitement is building for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction as the event draws near. This highly anticipated auction will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25, marking only the second time the auction has been held outside India. Last year’s auction took place in Dubai, making this another historic moment for the league.
Out of 1,574 players who initially registered for the 2025 auction, the BCCI has narrowed the list down to 574 cricketers. These names will be up for grabs over the course of the two-day auction. The selected group includes 366 Indian players and 208 international players, with three from associate nations. Additionally, the pool of uncapped players consists of 318 Indians and 12 international talents. A total of 204 slots are available across the 10 teams, with 70 spots reserved for overseas players.
Indian Stars in the Spotlight
Seven Indian cricketers have made it into the prestigious marquee set for the auction. The list features Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Arshdeep Singh. The highest base price for the auction is set at ₹2 crore, with 81 players opting for this top category.
Mallika Sagar Returns to Conduct the Auction
Mallika Sagar is set to return as the auctioneer for IPL 2025, continuing the groundbreaking role she took on last season. She made history in IPL 2024 by being the first woman to lead the auction, replacing Hugh Edmeades, who had long been the face of IPL auctions.
