TEHRAN: The Iranian Foreign Minister stated that the Vienna discussions did not address "parts" of Iran's requests for the lifting of US sanctions. Hossein Amir Abdollahian made the comments during a joint press conference with his visiting Finnish counterpart Pekka Haavisto in Tehran on Monday, according to state news agency IRNA.
"Parts of our demands for the easing of sanctions have still to be answered in the latest texts obtained from the Vienna discussions," he continued.
Ali Bagheri Kani, Iran's Chief Nuclear Negotiator, and accompanying negotiating experts will focus on the document expected to be agreed upon in Vienna in the coming days, he said, urging all parties involved in the talks to demonstrate their commitment to the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). The Iranian Minister also expressed hope for a final deal in the next sessions.
Haavisto, for one, expressed concern at the Iranian nuclear deal's demise, saying, "We European countries look forward to achieving an agreement and reviving the JCPOA during the (upcoming) Vienna meetings."
