Tehran: A 78-year-old member of the top religious organization that elected the supreme leader in Iran died of coronavirus infection. According to the Iranian media report, Ayatollah Hashim Bathei (Ayatollah Hashem Bathaei), a member of 'Majlisse Khabargane Rahbari', died on Monday due to the coronavirus.

The job of this organization is to elect the supreme leader of the country. This is where the leader puts the final seal on all important policies of the country. A media report said on Monday that many of Iran's top officials are suffering from the virus, many of whom are in critical condition. It is noteworthy that 129 more people have died due to coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Iran, after which the number of dead has increased to 853.
