Ahmedabad: A large number of Heroin were seized from Mundra Port in Kutch, Gujarat, which came to India from Iran via Afghanistan and the drugs were valued at thousands of crores. Gautam Adani's company is responsible for running this port. Gautam Adani has been under criticism on social media since then. A few days after the incident, on October 11, Adani Ports announced that its terminals would not handle cargo from Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan from November 15 and that the order would be for all ports operated by Adani Ports. Now Iran's response to the matter has come to the fore.

Iran has criticized Adani Ports' decision to ban imports and exports of Iranian containers. Iran has termed it as a non-professional and unbalanced move. A statement issued by the Iranian Embassy said the Indo-Iranian police and narcotic drug control administration have held talks on the matter. The two countries have also expressed concern over the challenges faced by the increase in drug trafficking. The statement said that over the past several decades, the production of narcotic drugs and its organized smuggling from Afghanistan have posed a threat to Iran, its surrounding areas and the rest of the world. This serious global problem requires a sustained and cohesive struggle. At the same time, coordination and mutual cooperation in all countries are also very important.

Iran further said that Iran has also been somewhat affected by its neighbours since the Taliban captured the terror group in Afghanistan. Iran has also cited three main reasons for drug production and smuggling in Afghanistan. These include reasons such as the occupation of Afghanistan by foreign forces, factionalism and poverty.
