Tel Aviv: According to Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz, Iran is using two bases to carry out marine assaults using drones. According to sources, the Defense Minister made his statements at a symposium at Reichman University north of Tel Aviv, a few days before the resumption of nuclear discussions between Western powers and Iran on restoring the 2015 nuclear deal.

Iran has conducted marine drone attacks from two locations in Chabahar and Qeshm, according to Gantz.

Drones are "one of the key tools" used by Tehran, the Minister said, noting that the drones are "accurate" and can "reach strategic objectives over thousands of kilometres." "This capacity is already putting international forces in jeopardy in the Middle East and elsewhere," he warned.

Over the last few years, Israel and Iran have been engaged in a shadow war, with Israel carrying out airstrikes in Syria against Iranian targets and Iran being suspected of being behind a series of attacks on Israeli oil tankers in the Gulf.
