Tehran: There are many things that are very common in many countries of the world, but are considered a crime in some countries. Such as dancing. A shocking case has also come to light from Iran. Here, a couple danced in the main square of the capital Tehran, for which they have been sentenced to more than 10 years in prison. The video of their dance became very viral on social media.
This couple has been sentenced to 10.5 of prison for this public dance in the Azadi Sq in Tehran. It’s hard to believe how little moments of joy are being so violently crushed by IR. Dancing in public has become one of the most powerful forms of resistance in Iran. #MahsaAmini pic.twitter.com/Yz3NpFBwIn

In the video that has gone viral, 21-year-old Astiaz Haghighi is seen dancing with her 22-year-old fiancee Amir Mohammed without wearing a hijab. Both of them posted this video of the dance on social media. Let me tell you, there was a fierce ruckus about hijab in Iran recently. According to the activist group Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the couple, who were charged with "spreading immorality and misconduct" and "intent to disrupt assembly and national security", has now been sentenced to 10.5 years in prison.
However, Mizan, a news agency linked to Iran's judiciary, said the two were sentenced to 5 years in prison for "colluding to disrupt assembly and national security". Mizan Online also said the two were accused of encouraging people to gather and calling for riots in an Instagram post made on October 26.
