Lyon: The drowning of an Iranian man in the city of Lyon in the country's southeast on Tuesday was being investigated as a suicide by French authorities after he posted on social media to call attention to Iran's crackdown on protests. Wanted to do this to attract.

Lyon's public defenders announced that they had launched an investigation "to verify the theory of suicide, in particular given the messages by the person concerned announcing his intention on social networks" to commit suicide.

The incident has shocked the city and a small rally was held on the banks of the Rhone river on Tuesday to remember Moradi. At the riverside railing, mourners reportedly placed candles and wreaths.

"Police are attacking people, we have lost many sons and daughters, we have to do something," Moradi said in the video.
"I made the decision to end my life in the Rhone River. To demonstrate that the Iranian people are extremely fed up with the current conditions is a challenge," he continued.
