Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani stressed his nation's willingness to increase collaboration with Ukraine while advocating for peaceful resolution of international conflicts via the use of discussion rather than weapons.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the media office of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Al-Sudani made the comments while speaking with the visiting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
The statement further stated that al-Sudani repeated Iraq's position on resolving international and regional problems and disputes by opposing wars and adopting dialogue. The two sides also discussed measures to improve trade and economic interaction between Iraq and Ukraine.

Kuleba, for his part, emphasised that his nation was eager to work with Iraq and noted that the Ukrainian government valued Iraq's "pivotal role in supporting international stability efforts and peace initiatives." In a press conference with Kuleba earlier on Monday, the foreign minister of Iraq, Fuad Hussein, called for an end to hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, saying that Iraq "seeks to be part of the solution" to the crisis between the two countries.

There are no peace talks in the Russia-Ukraine war. Moscow says Kyiv must first accept its annexation of Ukrainian territory; Ukraine says Russia must pull out its troops.  "We always strive to be a part of the solution. Wars end with negotiation and dialogue; that’s why we believe in the language of dialogue," Hussein said.
