For the convenience of its passengers, IRCTC has introduced an OTP-based refund facility, under which the refund process will be made easy after the cancellation of e-ticket booking. To use this service, first know that these authorized agents only Will apply for If you have booked a ticket with an unauthorized agent and then cancel, then you cannot avail this service.
For your information, tell us tell you that after cancelling the e-ticket, you will get an OTP via SMS on the registered mobile number. After which you will have to share that OTP with your authorized agent who has booked your ticket. The agent will complete the further process by filling in the refund amount. Let us tell you that the refund of cancelled ticket will start only after giving OTP. In such a situation, it is important that you provide your correct mobile number at the time of booking the ticket so that there will be no problem in coming OTP at the time of refund. Also, the OTP-based service can also be used to cancel fully waitlisted. Few people will know that IRCTC gives you insurance up to Rs 10 lakh for just Rs 50 during ticket booking. IRCTC provides an insurance cover of up to Rs 10 lakh to passengers at a zero premium of 49 paise. You get the option of Travel Insurance while booking train tickets from the website of IRCTC. If you tick this option while booking your train ticket, then all the passengers traveling from that PNR provide IRCTC insurance facility to them.
