Varanasi: Is the figure found in the disputed Gyanvapi complex located in Ranasi, is it a Shivling or a fountain? This question has now again been postponed for some time. In fact, the Supreme Court has stayed till the next hearing the carbon dating and scientific survey ordered by the Allahabad High Court to know the truth and to know the real age of 'Shivling'. Challenging the High Court's decision in the Supreme Court, the Muslim side demanded to stop carbon dating.
After which the apex court has stayed the carbon dating of the Shivling figure and the scientific survey of the entire complex till the next hearing. Before a bench of Chief Justice (CJI) DY Chandrachud, Justice PS Narasimha and Justice JB Pardiwala, Huzefa Ahmadi, counsel for the Gyanvapi Masjid Management Committee, submitted that the Allahabad High Court has passed the order pending appeal. After hearing the arguments of Huzefa, the Supreme Court had agreed to hear this petition. While hearing the petition today on Friday (May 19), the Supreme Court said that the implementation of the instructions related to the order of the Allahabad High Court will be postponed till the next hearing.
The Hindu side has been claiming the disputed premises as its own, arguing that Aurangzeb had demolished the temple of Kashi Vishwanath and built a mosque there and it should be handed over to them as it is a very important center of faith for them. At the same time, the Muslim side opposed it. When the Hindu side approached the court, the court ordered a survey to find out the truth, which was also opposed by the Muslim side. However, after a lot of struggle, a survey was done and a Shivling-like shape was found in Gyanvapi's Vajukhana, then the Muslim side started calling it a fountain. Now is that Shivling or a fountain? To know this, when carbon dating is being done, the Muslim side has reached the Supreme Court to stop it. This raises the question that why the Muslim side does not want to let the truth come out? Does he know that, that figure is Shivling only, but does not want to give it? Because, Historian Irfan Habib has also accepted that Aurangzeb had destroyed the temples of Kashi and Mathura and had built mosques from the same debris. He told that the date of the history is recorded till the date of demolition of the temple.
