Leh: In the Union Territory of Ladakh's Kargil, the matter of preventing the construction of ancient Buddhist temple gompa by Maulanas and Islamic fundamentalists is now getting bigger. Minority Buddhists in the area have raised their voice against these clerics and even today rallies have been taken out by the people of the Buddhist community in this regard. He has been continuously demanding that the foundation stone of his Math should be laid in the area. It is noteworthy that in Kargil this type of division between two factions came to the fore for the first time.

On 31 May, more than 1 thousand followers, led by Buddhist guru Choskyong Palga Rinpoche, started a foot march, which was to reach Kargil by 14 June. But in the meantime the Muslims objected to it. Now Buddhists are demanding their rights. Many videos of his march have surfaced through social media. Seeing this video, National Security Affairs Analyst Divya Kumar Soti has raised the question and asked, 'Where are Bhante Karunakar, Vaman Meshram and Bhim Army, who run their lives by abusing Hindus in the name of Buddhism? Are you scared of facing real terrorists?

Let us tell you that building a gompa in Kargil, a Shia Muslim-majority area, has been a long-standing demand of the Buddhist community. The Buddhist leader, Choskyong Palga Rinpoche, along with his followers had embarked on a journey to this disputed site in Kargil with the aim of laying the foundation stone of the ancient monastery, but the fundamentalists did not like it. He opposed the foundation stone laying of the Math on 2 kanal land on a government order taken out in 1969. It was reportedly written in that order that the land can be used for commercial and residential purposes, but the land will not be used for building the temple. However, if we talk about before 1969, some reports suggest that on 15 March 1961, the General Department of Jammu and Kashmir gave land to the Ladakh Buddhist Association to build a Buddhist temple and inn in which they were allowed to do religious construction.

It is said that this place is important for both the communities. In such a situation, an alliance was formed last year to resolve the dispute. But after that, the Kargil Democratic Alliance wrote a letter to the Deputy Commissioner saying that this march of Buddhists is inspired by politics. It was also said in the letter that it can harm the cordiality of Ladakh. It has been told in the letter that the KDA had a meeting with the Ladakh Buddhist Association. Both the parties had agreed to settle the issue. In such a situation, no third person should be allowed to harm the peace of the area. At the same time, Karma Shardul, president of Ladakh Buddhist Association, said on this issue that he does not want to create any tension in the area, but it is the right of Buddhists to worship there too.

At the same time, talking about the local residents, the Muslims of Kargil say that no Buddhist lives in the surrounding 20 km and the building which is there is called a Buddhist guest house. So it should be allowed to remain the same. At the same time, Buddhists have complained that the local people are not allowing them to do construction work in the building.
