Kolkata: Pir Maulana Abbas Siddiqui of Furfura Sharif Dargah in West Bengal is considered politically ambitious. They have a large number of followers in Bengal. Maulana Abbas Siddiqui's party Indian Secular Front (ISF) is contesting 30 seats in west Bengal's 294 assembly seats along with Congress and Left.

During an interview, Maulana Siddiqui said, "I am addressing not just Muslims, but all the poor and those who feel cheated by the present political structure. I was ready for an alliance with all those who would have given me seats with my conditions, but Mamata Banerjee did not agree, while the Congress and the Left Front accepted my terms. Let us share  Maulana Siddiqui has a great dominance in West Bengal. At least five districts of the state, north and south Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, Nadia and parts of East Midnapore have a large number of followers.

Siddiqui further said, "The brotherhood is coming to an end because of Mamata Banerjee's actions. The administration had stopped Durga Visarjan due to Muharram. Who demanded it? It was said that Rs.2,500 would be given to imams, but it was not disclosed that the money came from the Wakf Board. When Mamata's mass base began to slide, she also asked the temple priests to pay. We only want those who are the rights conferred by the Constitution. The biggest loss caused by such politics is that brotherhood among communities has suffered. ''
