An anti-encroachment drive has been initiated near the ISKCON temple situated in Nayapalli by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation(BMC) and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA).
Both, the BMC and the BDA decided to take action against the illegal encroachments that have been built near and outside the temple premises due to the serious issues coming up like water-logging. They tried to demolish the illegal construction. This led to a fierce outburst amongst the people living in the concerned areas. He devotees and followers of the Temple tried to stand against the police and the authorities.

The protest became extremely violent and was followed by stone pelting activities. As per the reports, 3 people have suffered some serious injuries including 2 people who were a part of the enforcement squad.

Also the worshiped Samadhi of Guru Gour Govind Goswami which has been constructed in front of the Isckon temple has also been destroyed.
Previously, the BMC issued a notice to the authorities of the temple but no response was given to the notice and the orders were also not followed hence, both, the BMC and the BDA had to take such a decision.
