Two-time champions ATK FC captured the first place in the sixth edition of the Hero Indian Super League by defeating FC Goa 2–0 at their home on Saturday. In this match played in the presence of around 25000 spectators at the Salt Lake Stadium, Pritam Kotal scored for ATK in the 47th minute while Jayesh Rane scored the second goal in the 88th minute to ensure his team's seventh victory. ATK has gained 24 points from 13 matches. Goa has the same number of points but ATK is ahead in terms of goal difference.

This match between these two teams included in the top-4 was on goalless draw till halftime. Both the teams put up their full power but no one could get a chance to score. Several shots were taken inside the box but most of them stayed away from the target. The first attack came from ATK in the second minute but Javier Hernandez could not control his shot and the ball went far away from the post. After this, Manveer made a move for Goa in the sixth minute but his shot also went away from the post. For the next 20 minutes, both the teams tried their best to penetrate each other's D and they were successful in this sequence but the goal was not in anyone's luck and thus the half ended 0-0.

Rane, however, repaid his mistake six minutes later, leading ATK 2–0. Rane lobbed the ball into the box and then deflected the ball into the possession and put the ball in the goalpost to ensure three points for his team.
