On Saturday, in the sixth season of Hero Indian Super League, hosts Odisha FC will face Mumbai City FC at Kalinga Stadium here. Odisha's eyes are on reaching the top-4 with a hat-trick of victories. Odisha, which began its campaign in the league with matches outside the home, had earlier made Pune its home ground, where it had played many matches. Coach Joseph Gombou's team has now returned to their home ground Kalinga Stadium, where they have won two in a row. Odisha defeated Jamshedpur 2–1 and then Chennai FC 2–0 in the first match here.

On the other hand,  Mumbai City lost to ATK in their last match after winning three consecutive matches. The team has lost only once in the last seven matches and is at number four with 16 points from 11 matches. Odisha's team is also at number five with 11 matches and the team is one point lower than Mumbai City. The good thing for the host team is that this season they have beaten Mumbai City 4-2 away from home.

Gombou believes that players should get extra motivation to perform well in the match in front of their domestic supporters. He said, this is a very important match for us. It is a six-digit match and is for the top-4. Two-thirds of the league's time will end on Saturday. We believe that we are working hard. The player is desperate to win and I think we can do a good job. He further said, I think we have not played domestic matches for a long time. We have played 10 matches outside the house. After that it is good to come here and then get the support of the people. After all, we are playing at home and it is extra inspiring for us.

Mumbai City assistant coach Marco Leete believes that it is important for the team to start focusing on themselves instead of their opponent. They said, they have a very good team. They do common things, but they are quite effective. They have players who can make the match unbalanced. They have their weapons and we have our own. They have good players as Indians and foreigners. But we are not worried about it.
