Islamabad: The case of Kulbhushan Jadhav, an Indian citizen imprisoned in Pakistan jail, will be heard today in Islamabad High Court (IHC). A hearing will be held before the High Court in the matter of appointment of Defense Council for Kulbhushan Jadhav. Before this, Pakistan has clearly refused to give him an Indian lawyer.

According to Pakistani media, the hearing of the Kulbhushan Jadhav case will be conducted by a large bench of the Islamabad High Court. It includes Chief Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb. Earlier, the Imran government rejected the demand to have an Indian lawyer to defend Kulbhushan Jadhav. Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafiz Chowdhury rejected India's demand to appoint a local lawyer to advocate Kulbhushan Jadhav's case in the Islamabad High Court.

He had said that India is making unreasonable demands to allow an Indian lawyer to represent Kulbhushan Jadhav. Pakistan Foreign Ministry had said that "We have told India many times that only those lawyers who have a license to advocate in Pakistan can be given the opportunity to represent Jadhav in the court. It is the legal practice in courts".
